Deuces, Summer!

ADIOS, Summer of 2011!
I can't say we'll miss you.

Class(es), Disneyland mid-September for Mom's birthday, Donald coming home from training in late September, being a bridesmaid in a friend's Halloween wedding, the holidays, and....

...not having to shave my heat-sensitive baby wildebeest anymore!

Here's two from the time we tried shaving him like a gorilla ("big" and fluffy up front, bare in the back. Like a canine-style-high-and-tight).
It didn't go over well, so now we clip him evenly and he's much cooler and happier for it.

Both our cold-loving dogs are as thrilled as us to throw DEUCES up to this year's summer.

  1. I miss having a Newfie so much (but don't miss dealing with the double-thick fur coat in summer).

We once had a neighbor report us to animal control because we'd left our poor dog outside in the middle of winter. When the guy knocked on our door and started to lecture us about how cold it was and how dogs need to come inside in winter, my mom said, "He's a Newfoundland. This is the first time in months he's felt comfortable outside."

The animal control worker started laughing and said, "Sorry for bugging you."

I'm positive my husband doesn't want to move out of our tiny apartment because he knows that as soon as I have some real space I'm going to get another Newf.

  2. Your dogs are so cute! Ours don't mind any weather, despite their short coats. They will run in snow until they get frostbite, but they'll go out in 100 degree weather to run too.

  3. I cannot wait for the holidays. The decorating, the baking, the holiday movies and songs, the whole shabang (sp?)...I just wish that it wasn't in the 70s during the winter.Oh, well! Better hot than being in the 20s, right?

  4. Oh, we've wanted a Newfie for a long time! He's adorable! My husband and I said when we were newly married that we should get a newfoundland and a dachshund! Ha ha! Glad to hear that you are hanging in there and have some great plans. :) (I won't miss this summer either!)

  5. Seeing DOG shaved is just so dang funny! Also, Moroni is quite possibly one of the cutest dogs I've ever seen!
